Don’t be closed in by simple shower curtains. Enclose your bathtub with light and airy glass shower doors from Simply Elegant and make your tub-shower combo the centerpiece of your bathroom. We design, fabricate and install custom glass shower enclosures throughout Middlesex, Ocean and Monmouth Counties. Every enclosure is carefully measured and cut to fit perfectly in any bathtub opening no matter the size or the style you select.
When clients contact us, they often think sliding glass doors are the only option for a tub-shower combination. That is a common misconception. There are several types of glass bathtub enclosures. The best option will depend on your style preferences, as well as the configuration of the bathroom, location of fixtures like vanities and toilets, and other architectural details. Our glass experts can help you decide the optimal enclosure for your space.
Sliding or bypass doors are a versatile choice. They provide the expansiveness of glass together with the space saving feature of a shower curtain. By choosing sliding glass doors, you don’t have to worry about hitting a vanity, toilet or a wall as you enter or exit the tub area.
Doors that swing out are a great option for larger bathrooms. And because every Simply Elegant enclosure is custom made, there is design versatility – choose a single swinging door with a fixed panel, dual swinging doors that open in the center of the tub, or a custom design.
A current design trend is to forego a door enclosure completely and opt for a simple glass screen that prevents the water from splashing into the bathroom as you shower. The screen can be fixed or swing out similar to a door.
Once you pick the style enclosure you prefer, you then select the type of framing:
Foregoing a full metal frame surround creates a sleek, modern look. The frameless enclosure can be a constructed header, u-channels or clips to keep the glass safely in place. This construction requires the use of tempered glass between 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch.
With semi-frameless you have more metal around the edge of the glass than with frameless styles. There will be some metal framing in the interior of the door or around the top of the enclosure. The tempered glass for this type of enclosure typically ranges in thickness between 3/8-inch and 1/4 inch.
A framed enclosure is just as its name implies. Metal frames the entire enclosure for support of the glass, which is thinner at 5/32-inch to 3/16-inch.
